Death of Her Majesty the Queen – Announcement from Solihull MBC
The Mayor, Councillors and Officers of Solihull Council are deeply saddened at the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen.
Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time.
Proclamation of the Accession
The local Proclamation in Solihull will take place at 1pm on Sunday 11 September on the High Street. The Mayor will read the Proclamation.
Books of Condolence
Books of Condolence are available for members of the public to sign at The Core and Chelmsley Wood Library.
The opening times for the condolence books are:
Monday – Friday 9.00am – 7.00pm
Saturday – Sunday 10.00am – 3.00pm
Floral tributes
Two sites have been identified for members of the public to lay flowers. They are Jubilee Gardens, behind Touchwood on Homer Road in Solihull and on Bosworth Drive near the junction with Pine Square roundabout in Chelmsley Wood.
Flying of the Union Flag
The flag at the Council House will be flown at half-mast until the morning after the Queen’s funeral, however it will return to full mast for a short period, from 11am on Saturday 10 September until 1pm on Monday 12 September to mark the proclamation of Charles as King.

Book of Condolence for HM the Queen at St Patrick’s Church
For anyone who wishes to sign the book of condolence at St Patrick’s Church, they will be open 8am to 8pm on Saturday September 10th, most of Sunday, and on Monday and Tuesday from 8 to 10am and 3 to 7pm.
St Patrick’s Church, Earlswood
Our church is open and ready to welcome you. There is a book of condolences, light a candle, place a message on our memorial tree, lay flowers of just come and have a moment of peace and quiet reflection in the church or churchyard. The Church will be open until 8.00pm.
