Memorial For Dickens Heath

We have been trying to sort a memorial for the village for a little while now. To give a focal point to the village and give us a place to hold the remembrance Sunday service. The Parish Council wanted young people to be involved and were delighted when Alderbrook school agreed to participate. Year 7 were given a project to write some words for the Memorial. The standard was very high, but the Parish Council has decided that the words of Ryan Carter really capture the sentiment they were looking for. Well done Ryan! A stone carver has been commissioned to draw up some designs.

Through marshes and bog,
Through thunder and fog,
What you did give,
So we could live.

What you have seen,
Where you have been,
We salute you,
Until we too,
Aren’t here at all,
And only the poppies mark your fall.
